Fire at Buenos Aires train station did not affect service

An electrical panel located in the basement of the Constitución train station in Buenos Aires caught fire, but it did not affect train services. According to police sources from the Noticias Argentinas news agency, the electrical panel is in front of platforms 1 and 2, which were cordoned off by police. The rest of the station continued to operate normally. Initially, Trenes Argentinos reported delays on the Roca Korn, Ezeiza, La Plata, and Bosques branches due to the fire in the Constitución station basement, but the service was expected to normalize by 18:00, the peak traffic time at the terminal. On Monday, an armed man boarded a Roca train at Temperley station, took a passenger hostage, and the Alejandro Korn, Ezeiza, and Bosques via Temperley branches were suspended. Sources from Trenes Argentinos informed the Noticias Argentinas agency that the incident occurred at 15:11 on train 3210 on platform 2, where the suspect refused to be identified by Federal Police personnel, barricaded himself in the last car, and threatened the victim. Federal and Bonaerense police officers cordoned off the area, evacuated users, and rescued the woman who had been held hostage. At 16:20, the aggressor, identified as 50-year-old Jorge Daniel Nicolini, ceased his actions, surrendered to the authorities, and was detained, while the Ezeiza, Alejandro Korn, and Bosques via Temperley branches returned to normal operation. The authorities confirmed that the individual was carrying a grenade and a .22 caliber revolver, requiring the presence of experts from the Lanús Explosives Division and the PFA.
